Every Day Carry for the Dirt Bike and ATV rider - the tool kit

October 25th, 2016

While most would never think about riding without a helmet but there is another piece of gear you should pay close attention to and keep in mind.

One thing I never ride without is my tool kit with all the essentials I need to get out of a jam, and this will vary depending on the bike you ride, but in general here is what I and most guides here carry on every ride.

Some of the more common issue when out on the trails are easy to get through if you got the right tools on you. Flat tires, broken levers, cracked engine cases, busted radiators are nothing for the prepared offroader.

Toolkit should include:

  • 8mm, 10mm, 12mm, 13mm and 14mm wrenches (may vary depending on your bike
  • A medium adjustable crescent wrench
  • a good multi-tool is a good idea something like a Leatherman or a Gerber
  • Tire repair kit that can include a plug kit for ATVs, patch kit and a spare inner tube and some CO2 cartridges to inflate your tire after repairs but a small pump should work too it will just take a little longer
  • tire pressure gauge
  • wrenches to remove your wheels
  • tire spoons to get the tire off your rim
  • chain breaker
  • 2 or 3 links of chain maybe leftover from installing a new chain
  • 5 minute 2 part epoxy
  • A spark plug
  • Electrical tape or duct tape is alway handy
